Change a lead's stage from the IQ chat

Updated 2026-10-17

In CustomIQ, changing a lead's stage from the IQ chat is not available yet. Today you do it from Contacts, in the segment. Once available, you'll say "move Ana García to qualified", see the stage it leaves and the one it enters, and it only changes when you answer "yes".

What is "Change a lead's stage" in CustomIQ?

It's an IQ chat action that moves one of your brand's leads to another stage: Spam, Unqualified, Qualified or Sales-qualified. It works the same as changing it in Contacts. It isn't in the chat yet; today you do it from Segments, in the Contacts tab. If you ask the chat, it tells you where to do it.

How will it work in the chat?

In the IQ chat you'll type "move Ana García to qualified". The chat finds the lead by name, email or phone among your brand's leads. "Ana" finds the leads named Ana (by name or email), not Diana or Natalia. If there are several, it lists them with their segment and stage; if no one has that name, it says so and shows the most recent ones with a similar name. If you don't say the stage, it asks. Before changing anything it tells you the stage the lead leaves and the one it enters, and it only changes it when you answer "yes".

What else changes besides the stage?

Stage sequences follow the new stage: the lead leaves the previous stage's sequence and joins the new one's, just as when you change it in Contacts.

Steps

  1. Today, from Contacts. Open Segments, go to the Contacts tab and change the lead's Quality in its row.
  2. Once it's in the chat. You'll type "move Ana García to qualified" or "mark pepe@obra.es as spam".
  3. Pick the lead. By name, email or phone. "Ana" finds the Anas, not Diana. If there are several, you see their segment and stage.
  4. Review and confirm. You'll see the stage it leaves and the one it enters, and nothing changes until you answer "yes".

Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost?
Changing the stage is free.
Which stages can I set?
Spam, Unqualified, Qualified and Sales-qualified. "Unscored" is only the stage a lead starts in.
What happens to their sequences?
The same as changing it in Contacts. If you have stage sequences, the lead leaves its current stage's sequence and joins the new stage's.
