Run an A/B test of two Meta ads in the IQ chat

Updated 2026-10-19

In CustomIQ, running an A/B test of two Meta ads from the IQ chat is not available yet. Once it is, you'll type "Run an A/B test of two ads in my campaign X" and the chat will compare two creatives for 7 days with Meta's test, at no cost to you.

From the dashboard:IQ chat

What does the IQ chat do in an A/B test?

Once available, the CustomIQ IQ chat will use Meta's A/B test, which compares ad sets. To compare two creatives it copies the ad set twice, keeps one creative in each copy, splits the budget between them and pauses the original ad set while the test runs. It isn't available yet; today you do it in Meta Ads Manager. You'll ask for it in the IQ chat.

What happens at the end?

The chat tells you which version gets cheaper results and you pick the one to keep. The other is paused; the one you pick keeps running.

Can I do it on any campaign?

It needs a published Meta campaign with the budget on its ad sets (not at campaign level) and an ad set with at least two active ads.

Steps

  1. Once it's available. You'll type "Run an A/B test of two ads in my campaign X".
  2. Pick the two ads. The chat lists the ad set's ads and you pick two, for example "1 and 3".
  3. Confirm. You see what changes: two copies of the ad set, each one's budget and the original ad set paused.
  4. Pick the winner. Ask "How is my test going?" and, when it ends, "Keep the winner".

Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost?
Nothing in CustomIQ. Meta charges what the two versions spend, as usual.
How much does each version spend?
Half the ad set's daily budget, and at least 10 a day in your account's currency.
How long does it last?
7 days; you can ask for up to 14.
Does the chat optimize the campaign meanwhile?
No. While the test runs it proposes no changes on that campaign, so the comparison stays clean.
