Add a landing to the WordPress menu
Updated 2026-10-14
When you publish a landing to WordPress from Landings, "Menu placement" lets you choose one of the site's menus and the entry the page goes under, including custom items that are not pages. The entry stays hidden while the page is scheduled. It needs the CustomIQ plugin 2.6.0 and an Administrator user.
Where is it chosen in the dashboard?
"Menu placement" is a field in the publish panel of Landings that places the landing in your WordPress navigation when it is published. It lists the site's menus and their entries, indented by level, so you choose where it goes.
How is it different from "Parent Page"?
"Parent Page" (parent page) sets the URL and the breadcrumb: it can only be another page. The menu placement only decides where the link shows, and accepts any entry, including custom links such as "Services" that only open a submenu. If you choose an entry that points to a page, the panel offers to use it as the parent page too.
What happens if the landing is scheduled?
The entry is created when you schedule, but your site does not show it until the page is published. If you cancel the schedule, CustomIQ removes it from the menu.
What does my WordPress need?
The CustomIQ plugin 2.6.0 or later, a theme with classic menus and a connection with an Administrator user. If something is missing, the field tells you what instead of showing the menus.
Steps
- Open the landing. In Landings, open the landing and choose WordPress as the destination and your connection.
- Choose the menu placement. In "Menu placement", choose a menu's top level or the entry the page will go under.
- Set the label. Type the text the menu will show; left empty, the landing's title is used.
- Publish or schedule. On publish the entry is created in the menu; if you schedule it, it appears on its own the day the page goes live.
Frequently asked questions
- Why doesn't a custom item show up in "Parent Page"?
- The parent page can only be another WordPress page, because it sets the URL. A custom menu item is not a page; to hang the landing under it, use "Menu placement".
- What happens if I cancel the schedule?
- CustomIQ removes the menu entry it created and the page stays as a draft in WordPress.
- Why does the field ask me to update the plugin?
- The menu is handled by the CustomIQ plugin 2.6.0 or later. Download it again from the WordPress connection in Settings and install it.
- Does it work with block themes?
- No. In a block theme the navigation is edited in the WordPress Site Editor, not in classic menus.
- What permissions does it need?
- Menus are theme options: the connection's user must be a WordPress Administrator.
