Contacts and leads: import, find and export them
Updated 2026-10-19
In CustomIQ your contacts live in segments. Import them with the import icon on a segment, by hand or from a CSV with a checked preview, then open the Contacts tab to see every lead and customer from all channels, filter by segment, landing page, source or date, open a profile and download the list as CSV.

Where are contacts in CustomIQ?
Every contact belongs to a segment. Leads arrive from your landing pages, lead forms, inbox conversations and imports, and the Contacts tab lists all of them with their segment, source, type (lead or customer), status and date.
What do I do from the dashboard?
In Segments, press the import icon on a segment. Add one person by hand with name, email and phone, or choose a CSV file. CustomIQ shows a preview with every row checked; turn on Mark as customers if they already bought, and press Import. Then open the Contacts tab: see your totals, filter by segment, landing page, source or dates, search by name, email or phone, open a contact's profile, and press Download CSV to export the list or only the selected rows.
Can I do it in the chat?
You can ask the IQ chat about your leads, but importing and exporting contacts is done in Segments.
What does it cost?
Importing, browsing and exporting contacts does not spend credits.
Steps
- Open Segments. Go to Audience and Catalog, Segments, and find the segment the contacts belong to.
- Import contacts. Press the import icon, add people by hand or choose a CSV with full_name, email and phone.
- Check the preview. Review the preview; invalid emails and duplicates are flagged before anything is saved.
- Import them. Turn on Mark as customers if they already bought, then press Import.
- Find and export. Open the Contacts tab, filter or search, open a profile and press Download CSV.
Frequently asked questions
- What columns does the CSV need?
- full_name and email, with phone optional. Download the template from the import window to start from the right format.
- Are duplicates imported twice?
- No. Rows already in the segment or repeated in the file are skipped, and the result tells you how many.
- How do I mark a lead as a customer?
- Click the Lead or Customer badge on the contact's row to switch it.
