Add a new search ad to a published Google campaign

Updated 2026-10-13

In CustomIQ you type "Add an ad to my Google campaign." in the IQ chat, pick the campaign and the ad group and say what to highlight. The chat proposes new headlines and descriptions; press Review to edit them, which costs 1 credit, and the ad is only created in Google Ads when you approve it.

What is adding a search ad to a published Google campaign?

It's an IQ Chat action that creates a new search ad in an ad group of a Google campaign that is already published, without creating another campaign and without changing its budget. Your campaigns are in Campaigns.

How do I ask for it in the chat?

Type "Add an ad to my Google campaign.". The chat asks for the campaign, the ad group (with how many ads each one runs) and what to highlight; you can also leave that up to the chat. Then it shows the proposal: press "Review" to see the current lines next to the new ones and change any of them. Nothing is created until you approve it.

Is there another way?

Yes. Type "Optimize my Google campaign": when the optimizer proposes a new ad, you review it on its card the same way.

What do I need first?

A Google Search campaign published from CustomIQ, the Google Ads account connected, and Google having reported its ad groups (it usually takes a few hours after publishing).

How much does it cost?

Writing the new ad costs 1 credit, when you press "Review". Creating it is free and doesn't change the campaign's budget.

Steps

  1. Ask in the chat. Start a new conversation and type "Add an ad to my Google campaign.".
  2. Pick the campaign and the ad group. The chat lists your Google campaigns and then the ad groups, with how many ads each one runs.
  3. Say what to highlight. The chat asks what the ad should highlight, for example free shipping; if you don't mind, say "up to you".
  4. Review and approve. Press "Review" on the card, change the lines you want, and the ad is only created when you approve it.

Frequently asked questions

How many ads does an ad group allow?
Google allows 3 enabled search ads per ad group, so the chat shows how many ads each group runs; a full group can't take another until one of its ads is paused.
Will the daily spend go up?
No. The new ad goes into the ad group you pick and shares the campaign's budget.
Can I add an ad for another product?
Not with this action. Another product needs its own ad group with keywords, which needs keyword research; create a campaign of its own for that.
Can I delete the ad later?
Google doesn't allow deleting a search ad once created; you can pause it in Google Ads. That's why you review it before it's created.
