Add a new ad to a published LinkedIn campaign

Updated 2026-10-05

In CustomIQ, adding a new ad to a LinkedIn campaign that is already published from the IQ chat is not available yet. Today a LinkedIn campaign's ads are decided before it is published, in its detail in Campaigns; once it is published you can pause it, resume it or change its budget.

What is adding an ad to a published LinkedIn campaign?

It is an IQ chat action that will add an image, video or document ad to a LinkedIn campaign that is already published, without creating new campaigns and without changing budgets. It is not available yet. Your campaigns are in Campaigns.

What can I do today?

A LinkedIn campaign's ads are reviewed and regenerated in its detail, in Campaigns, before it is published. Once the campaign is published, from the IQ chat you can pause it, resume it or change its daily budget.

How will I ask for it in the chat when it is available?

By typing "Add an ad to my LinkedIn campaign.". On LinkedIn one CustomIQ campaign is several: one for each audience segment and format. The new ad uses a format the campaign already runs and is published in each segment. If it runs ads of more than one format, the chat asks which. It then shows you the proposal, only generates it when you say "generate", and only publishes it once you have seen it and say "publish".

What do I need first?

A LinkedIn campaign published from CustomIQ, with image, video or document ads, and the LinkedIn Ads account connected.

What does it cost?

The proposal is free. Generating the image, the video or the document uses credits, as in a new campaign. Publishing it has no cost and does not change budgets.

Steps

  1. Before publishing. Today review and regenerate the LinkedIn campaign's ads in its detail, in Campaigns, before publishing it.
  2. When it is available. You will type "Add an ad to my LinkedIn campaign." and pick the published campaign.
  3. Pick the format if there are several. If the campaign runs more than one format (image, video or document), the chat asks which; otherwise it uses the one it has.
  4. Review the proposal. The chat will show the angle, the headline, the text and what it will show; it only generates it when you say "generate".
  5. Accept and publish. You will see it in the card and say "publish"; it goes in as a new ad in each segment of the campaign.

Frequently asked questions

Why can't I add a video to a campaign of images?
On LinkedIn every ad in a campaign shares its format. A new format needs new campaigns and a new budget split.
Will the daily spend go up?
No. The new ad goes into the campaigns that already exist and each keeps its budget.
How many campaigns does the ad go into?
One for each audience segment that runs ads of that format. The chat tells you how many before publishing.
Can I add a document?
Yes, if the campaign already runs document ads. The chat shows you the PDF's title and points before generating it.
Can I add a carousel?
Not yet. Image, video and document.
Can I add an ad for another product?
Not in the same campaign. Another product needs a campaign of its own.
