In CustomIQ, posting an Instagram story from the IQ chat is not yet available. Once it is, you will ask "Post my latest image as a story on Instagram": the chat picks one image or one video, with no caption, shows you the time and publishes nothing until you answer "yes". A story lasts 24 hours.
What is posting an Instagram story in CustomIQ?
It is a form of the "Schedule a post" action in the IQ chat that publishes an image or a video you already have as an Instagram story, now or at the time you say. The story lasts 24 hours and has no caption. It is not yet available.
How will I ask in the chat?
In the IQ chat you will write "Post my latest image as a story on Instagram." or "Post a story now.". If you don't say which image or video, the chat shows the ones you have ready; if you don't say when, it asks. Before publishing it shows you the story, the time and the border warning when the image isn't vertical, and nothing goes out until you answer "yes".
What can I do today?
You can schedule the same image or video as a regular Instagram post from the chat, or by hand from Posts and Calendar. A story and a regular post of the same piece don't block each other.
What doesn't it do?
It doesn't post carousels as a story (a story takes a single image or one video), doesn't post stories on Facebook or TikTok, doesn't add a caption and doesn't post the same story twice.
Steps
- Ask in the chat. Once available, write "Post my latest image as a story on Instagram." or "Post a story now.".
- Choose the image or video. If you don't say it, the chat shows your ready images and videos. A carousel can't go up as a story.
- Choose the time and confirm. Say "now" or a date; the chat shows you the story and nothing goes out until you answer "yes".
- See it in the Calendar. The story shows up in the Calendar with a "Story" label; if publishing fails, you will see it there.
Frequently asked questions
- Can it also go to Facebook or TikTok?
- No. Stories only go out on Instagram; if you name another platform, the chat tells you and posts it on Instagram only.
- Does it have a caption?
- No. Instagram doesn't take a caption on stories, so the chat prepares none and you can't change it.
- What if the image isn't vertical?
- Instagram shows it with borders. A story looks best in vertical 9:16; the chat warns you before you confirm.
- How much does it cost?
- Nothing. Publishing or scheduling a story is free.
