Retargeting on Meta: reach people who already know you
Updated 2026-10-10
In CustomIQ you create Meta retargeting by typing "I want to run retargeting for my campaigns on Meta." in the IQ chat: you pick the cold source campaign, confirm, the agent generates creatives aimed at people who already interacted, you review them and publish. The retargeting campaign appears in Campaigns like any other, with its results.

In the chat: type this phrase in the IQ chat
I want to run retargeting for my campaigns on Meta.
What is retargeting?
It is showing ads again to people who already interacted with your brand: visited your website, watched a video or tapped an ad from a previous campaign. It converts better because the audience already knows you.
How do I do it in the chat?
Type "I want to run retargeting for my campaigns on Meta." in the IQ chat. The agent lists your cold campaigns, you pick the source, confirm the cost and it generates specific creatives. Then you review them and click publish.
What do I do from the dashboard?
Follow the campaign. It appears in Campaigns as a retargeting campaign with its creatives, budget and results. There is no creation form in the dashboard: it is created in the chat.
What creatives does a retargeting campaign generate?
Re-engagement creatives, not introductions. The agent knows this audience already knows you, so the video scripts, the ad copy and the images all start from what they left unfinished: they pick the visit or the cart back up, dismantle the objection that stopped them (price, trust, risk, timing), remove the risk with a guarantee or returns, and close on genuine urgency. They never introduce the brand as if it were the first time.
Can I change the proposed creatives?
Yes, as with any campaign. Once research finishes, press "Creatives" on the campaign or tell the chat ("I don't like them, add an image"): you change copy, remove proposals or add new ones. The ones you add follow the same re-engagement rule, never a brand introduction.
What do I need first?
An active or recent Meta campaign to use as source and, for website audiences, the Meta pixel installed and connected.
What does it cost?
Generating the creatives consumes credits and the chat shows the amount before you confirm; ad spend is charged by Meta.
Where is it in the dashboard?

Frequently asked questions
- What is a cold campaign?
- A campaign aimed at people who do not know you yet; retargeting reuses its audience (visits, interactions) to reach them again.
- Do I need the Meta pixel?
- For retargeting based on website visits, yes; the agent checks the connection and warns you if it is missing.
- How are retargeting creatives different?
- They never introduce your brand — they assume the viewer already knows it. The video scripts re-hook ("you were looking at this…"), dismantle the objection that stopped the purchase, remove the risk (guarantee, returns) and close with genuine urgency. Copy and images follow the same angle, never a "discover who we are".
- Does it work on Google too?
- Yes: "I want to run retargeting for my campaigns on Google." follows the same process.
- Can I change the proposed creatives?
- Yes. Press "Creatives" on the campaign or tell the chat "I don't like them, add an image": you change copy, remove proposals or add new ones, and the added ones are written for your warm audience too.
