How to create customer segments and products in CustomIQ
2:08 · Published 2026-10-11
In CustomIQ a product is what you sell (name, description, price, images) and a collection groups several products, for example a category of your shop. You manage them in Products and Collections. The IQ chat uses them to choose what each campaign promotes, generate creatives per product and add a whole collection to an ad campaign.

0:00Introduction
In this tutorial you'll create a customer segment and a product. They're the foundation of everything CustomIQ builds for you: campaigns, ads and content.
0:13Create a segment
A segment describes who you're targeting: who they are, what problem they have and which country they're in. Start by clicking Add segment. The form opens. At the top you'll see the creation cost in credits. Give it a name that identifies the audience, for example, Austin Freelancers. In the description, explain this customer in detail: age, situation and what they're looking for.
You need at least one hundred fifty-five characters. The more specific you are, the better your ads will be. The language is already filled in. Now choose the country, or countries, where you want to reach this audience. Click Save segment. There's your segment. CustomIQ researches it in the background to really understand this audience. You don't have to wait: you can keep working.
1:08Create a product
Now let's go to Products. This is where you register what you sell, so every campaign knows what to promote. Click Add product. First, pick the type. If you sell a service, choose Service. If it's a physical product, choose Product. Type the name the way your customers would see it. Describe what's included and what makes it different. Add the price.
It's optional, but it helps the AI write better offers. And connect the product to the segments it's meant for. We'll choose Austin Freelancers. Click Next. In this step you can upload product images. For a service they're optional. And create the product. Done. You now have your first segment and your first product. From now on, the CustomIQ strategist will use them to propose campaigns and content.
